Hibs hold the edge of a close Premiership scrap
Standings and form
Dundee United sit 9th in the 2026-2027 Scottish Premiership with eight points from seven games, one place and one point above Hibernian in 10th after seven games. The Terrors are on a run of two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five, while Hibs lost 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock.
Hibs have had an inconsistent run of one win, one draw and three losses in their last five games, so the rhythm has been a little elusive for them. However, the Edinburgh outfit are the slight favorites here at 2.4, compared to 2.64 for Dundee United and 3.65 for the draw.
Tactics
Jim Goodwin's men are one of the most flexible sides in the league, with the ability to flip between a 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 system. They are built to press high and then counter quickly, while Hibs are a little more front-foot and push their wide players up the field, which should make for an interesting contest in the midfield.
Hibs have the edge in attack
Marink Reedijk took charge of Hibs on 25 September 2026 and has had to try and install a braver, more intense attacking identity on the team. They have certainly been more open under him and should come out swinging in this game if they can find their rhythm.
An open game should be in prospect at Tannadice Park on Saturday and we are taking over 2.5 goals at 1.62 and both teams to score at 1.53 as our main bets, although the slight edge in this Premiership game favors Hibernian. Hibs can get their hands on the loose ball better and Dundee United have failed to beat them in two home games, losing the last one 3-2 in the 2025/2026 season.
A narrow Hibs win or high-energy draw looks the most likely outcome here with goals at both ends and no margin for error.
- Jesse Randall is the Terrors' top scorer in the Prem in 2026/2027 with two goals in seven appearances, while Adam Mayor has chipped in with a couple of goals during Hibs' last five, which have yielded six in total.
- Hibs' Martin Boyle is the leading scorer overall with three goals in six appearances and he is their main threat in the final third.
