- Away form: Arbroath has lost both of their last two away games.
- Home H2H record: Dunfermline has failed to win in their last two home H2H encounters, winning seven, drawing four, and losing six of their 17 home Championship 2025/2026 games.
- Head-to-head recent: Both teams have won two and drawn one of the last five head-to-head games.
Both teams are in the final championship furlong
Context
Dunfermline and Arbroath are set to face off on Friday as the fourth and third-placed teams in the Championship 2025/2026 respectively, after the Pars collected 50 points in 35 games, compared to their guests’ 51.
Recent form
The hosts have won just two, drawn one, and lost two of their last five games in all competitions, while Arbroath have gone one worse, notching one win, one draw, and three defeats during that same period.
Dunfermline
Dunfermline claimed a 2-0 away victory over fellow strugglers Queen’s Park in the Championship last time out, following an excellent run of results prior to their penalty shootout victory over Falkirk FC in the Scottish FA Cup. Neil Lennon has done an excellent job since his March 2025 appointment and has created a possession-based, structured and dynamic side that plays in a hybrid 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 system.
Arbroath
Arbroath, meanwhile, have been on a patchy run of form recently, losing three of their last five. Colin Hamilton has built a pragmatic, compact and organized unit since taking charge in September 2024, typically setting his side up in a 4-2-3-1, where he tries to keep his team compact and solid, before hitting the Pars on the counter-attack or from set pieces.
A home win looks the likeliest outcome
I’m siding with a home victory in this game at an odds of 2.14, as I expect the visitors to be pinned back for long periods given the styles of these two sides. Lennon’s men will dominate possession and create more chances, while Hamilton’s men will need to work hard to get a foothold in the game.
As such, a Dunfermline win with over 2.5 goals at 2.06, along with ‘Both Teams to Score - No’ at 1.88, looks a cracking bet.
- Findlay Marshall has been Arbroath’s talisman this season, scoring 12 goals in 35 league appearances, including two in their last five outings.
- However, Andy Tod (13 goals in 32 appearances) can be a constant threat for the hosts, so he looks like a strong anytime goal scorer option.
- Dunfermline averages 1.41 goals scored per home game, while Arbroath averages 0.94 goals per away game in the league, but also concedes an average of 1.24.
