- Team form: FC Cincinnati are playing better soccer than D.C. United right now.
- Home record: The hosts have won seven of 13 games at home in MLS 2026, losing only three.
- Away woes: D.C. United have won only two of their 14 away games in MLS 2026.
Goals expected at TQL Stadium
FC Cincinnati should have too much for D.C. United in what should be an entertaining game at TQL Stadium on Wednesday. The Orange and Blue, who are coming off a 3-1 away win at Atlanta United, have hit a bit of a wobble at home recently, losing 2-3 to the New England Revolution last time out.
That result highlighted some weaknesses at the back and Pat Noonan's side will have to sharpen up for the clash against a high-pressing D.C. United team. The 25th-placed outfit is three points behind Cincinnati in the 26-team MLS 2026 standings.
D.C. United have won just one of their last five league games, drawing once and losing three, and their form on the road has been even worse. D.C. United have won just two of their 14 road games in 2026, drawing seven and losing five. That's a big red flag for this game against a Cincinnati team that has won seven of 13 at TQL, where they have lost only three times.
DCU have some decent goal-scorers
They sit 19th in the table, but the Noonan charges can shape games into what they want. They can play possession soccer, but are also happy to pack the box and play for results when the opposition are running out of patience.
That's a clash for the ages against René Weiler's D.C. United side, which have played at a higher tempo and with more pressing intensity since he took over in July 2025. Tai Baribo has scored 14 goals in 20 appearances and the visitors should always pose a threat on the counter.
They have scored 17 goals on the road at an average of 1.21 per game, so there should be goals at each end to this game if they force Cincinnati into making mistakes. But if the hosts are disciplined and play through the press they should win the game and we are taking them on at 1.7.
Denkey is in good form
Betting tips
Both Teams to Score looks good at 1.41 and Over 2.5 goals at 1.36 is also a smart bet, given Cincinnati have shipped 27 goals in 13 home league games and D.C. United are capable of exploiting that.
A 2-1 or 3-1 type scoreline seems likely, with goals at both ends and Cincinnati having the edge. Cincinnati haven't lost at home to D.C. United in the previous two attempts and are a good bet to make that three.
Player form
- Kevin Denkey has been in good goalscoring form for the home side in the last month with six goals in five games for a team that has scored 11 times in that sequence.
- Kimito Nono has chipped in with two of D.C. United's six goals in their last five games so he should also come into this with some confidence.
