- Recent form: Nurnberg have won four and drawn one of their last five matches, arriving at this game on the back of a three-game winning streak
- Recent results: Bielefeld have three wins and two defeats in their last five, with their recent results including a defeat away at Karlsruher SC, a 3-0 win at home to FC Energie Cottbus in the 2. Bundesliga 2026/2027, and a defeat at 2. Bundesliga side SG Sonnenhof Grossaspach in the cup.
- Home/Away form: Nurnberg have won their only home game in the 2. Bundesliga 2026/2027 so far, averaging 3.00 goals per game on home soil. Bielefeld are yet to win away in the 2. Bundesliga 2026/2027, averaging 2.00 goals conceded per game on the road
Nurnberg to edge it
Standings and odds
With six points from a possible six, FC Nurnberg are the early leaders of the 2. Bundesliga 2026/2027, with Arminia Bielefeld in sixth with three from their first two games. Nurnberg will be the slight favourites at 2.2 here with the bookies, just ahead of Bielefeld at 2.9, and the draw at 3.65.
Manager and recent form
Miroslav Klose has overseen the promotion-chasing Nurnberg since June 2024, and his 4-2-3-1 system has given the hosts the vertical transitions to play a fast-paced attacking game. After a solid 3-0 home win over 1.FC Dynamo Dresden in their 2. Bundesliga opener, a 4-2 win at SpVgg Greuther Furth has been followed up with a 2-1 away win in the DFB Cup against Viktoria Koln 1904.
Nurnberg are in fine form, winning four of their last five and drawing the other, so they look the more likely winner here at home to a Bielefeld side who have been in mixed form. Oliver Kirch has been in charge since July 2026, and his side have been pressing hard, winning their fair share of duels and getting forward quickly in the second phase.
Goal-heavy game expected
This will be a good matchup between Nurnberg's compact shape and quick counter attacks against Bielefeld's pressing style, and the match will be won by whichever side makes the most of the transitional opportunities. Bielefeld are still chasing their first away win in the 2. Bundesliga 2026/2027, and the 2.00 goals per-game that they have conceded away from home could be their undoing.
With that in mind, I'm backing both teams to score at 1.55 and Over 2.5 goals at 1.67, which looks better value than any result line, although I think Nurnberg will edge it. Die Arminen will look to press hard again on Saturday at the Max-Morlock-Stadion, and the chances of goals are high.
- Mohamed Ali Zoma has three league goals in the 2. Bundesliga 2026/2027 already and has been a driving force behind Nurnberg's three-game win streak, having scored five of their 12 total goals across that period.
- Joel Grodowski has been just as lethal for Bielefeld, netting three times in two 2. Bundesliga games since the new season began and bagging eight across the previous five.
- The head-to-head between these sides finished 1-1 at Bielefeld's ground in the 2. Bundesliga 2025/2026, and the previous two meetings before that were a Nurnberg win and a draw.
