- Górnik form: Górnik Zabrze sit third in Ekstraklasa 2026/2027 with six points from two games.
- Wisła form: Wisła Kraków sit fifth in Ekstraklasa 2026/2027 with six points from three games.
An early season top-six clash
The early-season table in Poland is not usually much to go by, but the two sides meeting at Stadion im. Ernesta Pohla on Sunday certainly fit the bill for a top-half clash. Górnik Zabrze are third with six points from their two games so far, while Wisła Krakow are fifth with the same amount from three matches. In a way, this matchup couldn't be much more different than the clash of styles between the teams.
Michal Gasparik has done a very good job since taking charge of Górnik Zabrze on 1st July 2025 and his high-energy, high-press style has provided his side with a much better chance of transition goals. Their most recent three results tell the tale of this side perfectly – a 1-1 home draw with Fenerbahce SK, a 1-0 away defeat to Ferencvarosi TC and a 3-1 away victory over Radomiak Radom in the Ekstraklasa 2026/2027.
Wisła Kraków boss Mariusz Jop has kept the boat steady since taking the helm on 24th September 2024 and his side play a well-drilled style with plenty of ball domination and coordinated pressing. Their most recent two results will be a cause for concern for any home crowd as they lost 4-3 away to Piast Gliwice before beating Wisła Płock 2-0 at home in their only other Ekstraklasa 2026/2027 game.
Wisła will be wary of Sánchez
Tactical contrast
The story of this game will be the contrast between Wisła's free-flowing, possession-based style and Górnik's more chaotic, end-to-end approach. Whoever handles the contrast better will probably win.
Away form
Wisła are still chasing their first away win of the Ekstraklasa 2026/2027 campaign after just one game (L1) but their average goals for (3.00) and against (4.00) away are eye-catching.
Key threats and odds
Górnik are 2.01 favourites for this game with Wisła coming in at 3.45 and the draw at 3.5, which seems a bit extreme.
- There are a number of players capable of punishing the opposition in both of these sides, but Jordi Sanchez is Wisła's main threat, leading Wisła's scoring in the league with four goals from his three games so far.
- Kacper Urbanski leads the scoring charts for Górnik in the same competition with one goal from two appearances, but he's still a reliable target man.
- Taofeek Ismaheel has netted two of Górnik's six goals across their last five in all comps so he's certainly worth keeping an eye on as he looks to get in behind the visiting defence.
Going for a home victory
The odds simply do not reflect the potential chaos that a Górnik press could cause in the Wisła build-up play, so we're going with a slight lean towards a win at home, but under 3.5 goals looks like a solid bet as the clash of contrasting styles could yet determine this clash.
