Giallorossi to nick it in tight game
Lecce host AS Roma in Serie A 2026-2027 on Monday in what is a difficult match to call with the betting markets currently priced very closely.
The hosts are 5.1, the visitors are odds-on at 1.69 and the tie is 3.55, but we are going to back Roma in the money line market, although not with any great conviction. The Giallorossi have a solid overall shape and have also won the last two meetings, although Lecce did come away with a 1-0 win five months ago in their most recent Serie A 2025/2026 meeting.
There's a tactical interest here with Eusebio Di Francesco's 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 system offering high lines, wide overloads and fast transitions. That will get the home side forward and test the defensive line of Gian Piero Gasperini's 3-4-2-1, which features man-oriented pressing, wing-back thrust and rapid vertical counters.

Gasperini's side have been more erratic than usual in recent weeks, going 1-2-2 in their last five, but that run has included a 3-0 away defeat to Brighton and a 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund. They're 6-2-2 overall since the start of the season, which is just about the record we expect them to have.
Attacking threats
A couple of goals on the road is probably enough to do the job as Lecce have scored 1.60 per game at their Stadio Ettore Giardiniero home this term.
- Paulo Dybala remains their major threat and he has four goals in Roma's last five as they have scored ten in that run.
- Olaf Gorter has scored one goal in one Serie A 2026/2027 appearance to lead Lecce's scoring and he can provide that early spark, but Nikola Stulic looks more likely to finish.
- He has two of their recent goals and Danilo Veiga has brought some creativity to the team with one assist in the league so far.
Giallorossi should squeeze the half-spaces
Lecce have won their away game at Venezia 0-2 yesterday so they should not fear the visitors. But they have failed to beat Roma in their last three home games, so we feel that the favourite will be able to squeeze out a win in what could be a tense game.
The market is leaning towards a tight game, with Under 2.5 goals at 1.65 and Both Teams To Score – No at 1.7, and we are happy to follow suit in both cases. This should be a frantic game, with Roma trying to squeeze the half-spaces while Lecce are looking to exploit the space behind the wing-backs in a very transition-driven game.
