- Recent form: LAFC have won back-to-back games, including a 3-0 derby win over LA Galaxy last time out.
- Opponent form: Sporting KC are in mixed-to-poor form with two wins and three defeats in their last five MLS 2026 games, including two successive losses.
- Head-to-head: LAFC have won four of the last five head-to-head matches and Sporting KC are winless in three away games versus The Blacks & Gold.
Los Angeles have LA edge over Sporting
Los Angeles FC will be looking to extend their good run of form when they host Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium, USA, on Sunday. Marc Dos Santos' side are flying the flag for the West Coast with an MLS 2026 record of 5th place from 27 points, while their visitors are currently 29th from 11 points collected in 15 matches.
Sporting are in poor form and have two defeats in their last three games, but that run also contains a 2-1 victory at in-form Austin FC, so their away form shouldn't be dismissed out of hand. In their most recent three games, SKC beat Austin 2-1 on the road, lost 1-0 at home and then fell to a 3-2 defeat away to St. Louis City.
Los Angeles have been on the up though, winning back-to-back matches in MLS 2026 and they'll approach this game with confidence as the clear favorite. LAFC's 2026 home record in MLS currently stands at five wins, one draw and two defeats in eight games played, while they have scored 15 goals at BMO.

Sporting's approach
Raphael Wicky has been trying to move Sporting KC into a more structured, possession-based approach with high-pressing elements, but they can be vulnerable when their press is bypassed.
- Sporting have some good width to them but Dejan Joveljic is usually their main man and he has bagged seven MLS 2026 goals in 15 appearances, so if Sporting are to score, it will probably be because of the Serbian's efforts.
- Manu Garcia has supplied three assists in his last five appearances to orchestrate their attacks.
- Sporting Kansas City's away record doesn't look great at two wins and six defeats from eight games, but they have hit seven goals on their travels, so they could score a goal here.
LAFC's threat
But Denis Bouanga has been a better bet than Joveljic this season, banging in seven MLS 2026 goals in 15 games, and LAFC will be confident that they have the cutting edge to score the winning goal.
Dos Santos' style is to play an attack-first, 4-3-3 system that can morph and flow across the width of the field at pace. They will be able to control the pace of this match and should win it.
Home win is the way to go
LAFC are the clear favorites here at 1.18 and the draw, which is 6.6, is a lot shorter than it should be considering Sporting KC are winless in their last three away H2Hs. But the long shot on Sporting KC is not tempting at all.
An Over 2.5 goals play at 1.3 probably suits the game script, but with both teams to score appealing at 1.77, we will take the home win as our main selection for the game as we believe Los Angeles can control the tempo of a competitive, if one-sided, matchup.
