- Team form: PSG are unbeaten in Ligue 1 2026/2027 away from home with one win and two draws from three games, averaging 1.67 away goals per-game.
- Head-to-head: PSG have won four of the last five head-to-head matches and hammered Marseille 5-0 here seven months ago.
- Recent results: Olympique Marseille have won just one of their last five matches across all competitions.
Les Parisiens could pull a rabbit out of the bag
Match context
Les Phocéens and Les Parisiens face off in Le Classique at Stade Orange Velodrome this Sunday with PSG looking the most likely winners at 1.43. Marseille have been priced at 6.25 and the draw at 4.75, which may look favourable at first glance, but I'm not expecting either to come in for a chunk of the bettors at this fixture.
Standings and pressure
PSG are seventh in Ligue 1 2026/2027 after four games with five points from four, but they still appear to be the bigger force in this matchup with Marseille languishing 13th with three points from their opening four fixtures. That's already enough for the pressure to be on summer signing Bruno Genesio, who has brought his press and quick-transition to OM, but his side are on a three-game losing streak across all competitions and look a bit vulnerable in confidence.
Form and tactics
PSG have won two and drawn two of their last five in all competitions, which could be read as solid but uninspiring, but their attacking rhythm has been improving game by game and it looks like the gears are clicking for Les Parisiens at the right time for this one.
Luis Enrique has managed to keep PSG fluid, intense and possession-heavy without the ball in what has effectively been a 4-3-3 system, but that is a flexible shape and the Spaniard's men morph into some more advanced formations in possession while Genesio's team have been pressing high and trying to trigger their press.
Le Classique always gets hotter in Marseille
Marseille will be looking to use home advantage to flip the script for what is an intense game by default. PSG are clearly the better side and will control the pace and flow of the game, but there's a chance that the hosts get on the front foot and make this a more open game than the odds suggest.
I like the over 2.5 goals bet at 1.38 because of PSG's attacking edge, but both teams to score at 1.48 also appeals in what will likely be an edgy encounter. PSG are a classier team with more talent in all areas and look set to nick it, but Marseille have the game plan and atmosphere on their side and can keep this close.
Ferran Torres looks to set the pace again
Players to watch
He can pick the lock here and the visitors should have enough in the bank to beat Marseille, who will likely settle for a point if they can grab it at Stade Orange Velodrome.
- Anytime goalscorer wagerers should be all over Ferran Torres, who has three goals in four Ligue 1 2026/2027 matches and has been in sizzling form with six in his last five games for PSG.
- Amine Gouiri has been Marseille's biggest threat with four goals in as many games in Ligue 1 2026/2027 and he's bagged two of Les Phocéens' last six goals across all competitions.
- Fabian Ruiz has provided PSG's final ball on a number of occasions this season, which has led to a return of two assists in four Ligue 1 2026/2027 games.
