- Espanyol form: Espanyol have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five games in all competitions.
- Deportivo form: Deportivo have won none, drawn two and lost three of their last five outings.
- Espanyol home form: Espanyol have conceded seven goals in five home league matches, winning one, drawing one and losing three.
Back the draw for a slice of the odds
Espanyol have had a hectic week so far, coming back from an extra time Copa del Rey defeat to Segunda Federacion side Sestao River Club to claim a 1-0 away win at Villarreal in LaLiga 2026/2027 on Saturday. Sitting 12th in the standings on 11 points from 11 games is not much worse than Deportivo A Coruna's own tally of 11 points from 10 matches, which leaves them 11th, and there is every reason to expect a close game at RCDE on Saturday.
Espanyol
Sergio Garcia took over as Espanyol head coach on 29 October 2026 and has already leaned on a more structured, counter-pressing setup. The Pericos do play a fluid possession-based game, overloading the flanks and pressing in transition, but Garcia's squad is more adept at shape-shifting from a 3-2-4-1 to a back-five block than it is at playing the possession-based football of the previous regime.
Deportivo
Antonio Hidalgo has had a little longer to put his stamp on Deportivo after taking over as head coach on 1 July 2025. He has tried to build his team on a foundation of structure, getting the defense organised, using the width of the wing-backs to generate numbers in the attacking third and quickly moving the ball upfield on the counter attack.
- Javi Hernandez has provided a creative spark from midfield, laying on four assists in seven league games, but Roberto Fernandez is their main man up top, leading the LaLiga 2026/2027 scoring charts with six goals in seven appearances.
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the focal point of the Dépor attack and tops the team's LaLiga 2026/2027 goalscoring charts with five in seven.
- A safer option could be to back under 2.5 goals at 1.83, which looks likely in a cagey matchup.
Espanyol edge it at home
The clash of styles between Espanyol's shape-shifting possession football and Deportivo's compact counter-attack blueprint makes the matchup interesting, but it is difficult to make a case for either of these teams to take the win. Espanyol are the slight favorites at 2.2 in the moneyline odds, while Deportivo are 3.2 and the tie is priced at 3.3.
It seems likely that these two sides will play a tense game and a tie looks the most likely outcome, but there is a home edge for Espanyol.
