SJK struggling at home
The form of both IF Gnistan Helsinki and Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho suggests two teams in Veikkausliiga 2026 will split the points when they meet at OmaSP Stadion in Finland on Friday. Gnistan are fourth on 28 points after 17 matches with SJK 11th on 14 points after the same number of games.
There is not much between the sides and the recent head-to-head suggests the home team are in with a good chance. The last meeting in Veikkausliiga 2026, which took place two months ago, was won by Gnistan 3-2, but SJK have won the last five meetings 3-1 with one draw.
Gnistan have not won either of their two away visits to SJK in the league, so the home side should still be able to sink their teeth into the game.
Gnistan have gained structure and momentum
Gnistan's system
Gnistan have enjoyed a strong start to the season under coach Jussi Leppälahti, who took charge on 1 January 2024, and have become a well-drilled, high-tempo unit. They press up aggressively and look to counter immediately after winning the ball back, so it can be a quick game when they play.
SJK's struggles
SJK have been in poor form, losing three straight games in a row after a 1-0 defeat at VPS, a 2-0 home loss to KuPS and a 2-1 away defeat to FF Jaro. Coach Jarkko Wiss, who took charge on 1 January 2026, has tried to make his side a bit more controlled and structured, although they can move the ball quickly once they turn over the opponents.
Tactical mismatch
This game looks like a bit of a mismatch in styles with Gnistan much more in their element when the pace is high and the pressure on the opposition's defense, while SJK are not going to let the game flow if they can help it.
SJK lack a reliable finisher
SJK are the favorites to win the match, but their price of around 2.05 is a little short given Gnistan have three straight victories on the board after beating AC Oulu 2-0 and FC Inter Turku 2-1, both away from home.
Both teams to score looks a better alternative because Gnistan do come here with a decent defensive record of just eight goals conceded in nine away games in Veikkausliiga 2026 and SJK have scored only 10 goals in eight home matches in the same competition.
This should be a close game, but we are siding with SJK to prevent the away side from winning at the very least as they did in the reverse fixture two months ago.
- Kelwin do Nascimento has been their hot hand lately with three goals in the previous five matches, but there is no reliable finisher on the field for Wiss as his 4-2-3-1 system lines up.
- Kasper Paananen, with four goals in 16 Veikkausliiga 2026 appearances, is the closest thing to it.
- Adeleke Akinyemi has been a real danger man for Gnistan with nine goals in 17 Veikkausliiga 2026 matches and four in the team's last run of nine goals in five games.
