Posh will press and pester, but the Hatters are playing better soccer
Posh come into this weekend's game at odds longer than even for a result and the visitors will certainly make things difficult for Stockport County on Saturday. Luke Williams' side are playing some good, proactive soccer at the moment and they are definitely not a team that will sit back and look to frustrate their hosts.
However, this is a stylistic mirror match in many ways as Jim McNulty's men will also want to dominate possession and dictate play by building from the back, with wing-backs, and a select pressing game. The hosts will want to control the tempo and have the ball in the attacking third, while Posh will want to increase the pace and turn the opposition over as high up the field as possible.
The visitors' problem is that if their press is broken, as it can be, then their side gets stretched and exposed at the back, which leaves the hosts a chance to do some damage. McNulty has rotated a few personnel in and out, but the result has been a slick, structured and well-paced team that seems to play the game in a controlled manner.

The Posh momentum isn't great coming into this game as they are 1-2-2 from their last five, and the 0-2 home defeat to Doncaster earlier this month has made things a bit more urgent for the team from the East of England. They have shaky momentum from the 3-3 shootout win over Barnsley in the cup, but that is not a great preparation for this clash.
One of Posh's main concerns is that they have been poor away from home in League One 2026/2027, scoring only 0.33 goals per game and conceding 2.33. They have taken just one point from their three away trips so far.
