- Home form: Rylands have been in decent form at home (W4, D1, L1) but have leaked 8 goals in 6 home games.
- Away form: Chorley have been in mixed form away from home (W1, D1, L3) but will be well prepared by Preece.
- Style contrast: Rylands have been sharp under Reynolds, while Chorley have been compact under Preece.
Two contrasting teams do battle
Warrington Rylands are the home team for this one and they're in decent nick at the moment, having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches. Their last two results were a 3-1 win at home to Hyde United in FA Cup Qualification and a 1-1 draw at home to Stockton Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Chorley are the slight favorites at 2.1 for this matchup, with Warrington Rylands at 3.04 and the draw at 3.5. Chorley are in mixed form coming into this matchup, having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five in all competitions.
Their most recent results were a 5-2 home win over Darlington and a 2-0 away defeat to Kings Lynn.
Two different approaches
Rylands approach
Neil Reynolds' Rylands set up in a 4-3-3 system with quick ball circulation. They are aggressive with their wide full-backs, their three forward players and their high press.
They want to win the ball back high up the pitch and keep the game moving in the direction of the opposition's goal. They have looked pretty good in this respect over the last few months but they have conceded eight goals in their six home games in all competitions, so they can be played through if the press is broken.
Chorley approach
Andy Preece is much more pragmatic in his approach to setting up his side, they will set up in compact shapes, they will be direct in transition and they will be a threat from set pieces. They are a solid side to play against and will punish mistakes against them on Saturday.
Chorley to edge it
Chorley came out on top of the last H2H matchup 3-2 at home to Rylands in the FA Trophy 2024/2025, so there is a little bit of bite to this one. The contrast in styles should also ensure that these two sides are a good matchup for one another and that it should be an interesting game.
Chorley have a slightly worse form and are the favorites, but Rylands have been better at home.
An away win or a cagey cup tie is the most likely outcome on Saturday and we're going for a Chorley result here.
We're confident that Under 2.5 Goals at 1.95 represents a solid bet on a tense and tactical battle on Saturday.
- Harrison Wood is the main threat for Rylands, having scored four of their eight goals in their last five games.
- Elliott Taylor has been a bright spark for Chorley of late, scoring three of their eight in the same period.
