- Tottenham have won five, drawn four and lost only one of their last ten matches in all competitions.
- Charlton have won three of their last five matches, but they are on a two-game winning streak.
- Spurs have won three and drawn four of their last seven home matches in all competitions, losing none.
Spurs are superior but this could be more than a one-way cup tie
Tottenham have not been in the most convincing of form of late, which is a bit of a surprise for Roberto De Zerbi who has been in charge since 31 March 2026. The Italian's positional, possession-based setup has found it tough to get the win in the past few weeks, although Spurs are in much stronger form overall, avoiding defeat in nine of their last ten in all competitions.
The hosts have won two and drawn three of their last five in all competitions and they have drawn three matches in a row in all competitions - a 1-1 home draw with Getafe and a pair of 2-2 draws with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at home. Finishing has been a problem, but there is nothing really wrong with this Spurs team which is averaging 1.86 goals scored and 1.29 goals conceded per game at home in all competitions this season.
Charlton will have to stay compact and keep their shape to avoid being overrun by Spurs' patient overload play in the first half and when they have the ball, but their direct, vertical style of play, intensity and second-ball prowess should make life uncomfortable for their hosts on Wednesday.
Addicks will play on the break
Nathan Jones' side are on a strong run at the moment, having won their last two matches - in the EFL Cup 2026/2027 at Cheltenham Town and at home to Derby County in the Championship 2026/2027 - . It is a different kettle of fish taking on Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, England but they have nothing to fear in this contest and could play on the counter-attack when Spurs dominate possession.
The odds of 6/25 for a Spurs win are about right, but Charlton are 35/4 and the draw is 23/5 in the outright market - which is a massive price for a side. The Addicks have scored nine goals in their last seven road trips in all competitions, so they will definitely pose a threat on the transitions and when Spurs go deep into the opponent's half.
Backing Over 2.5 goals at 12/25 is the right play here as the market senses a few chances in this clash, but Both teams to score - No at 17/20 is our selection as we feel Spurs will control this second-round EFL/Carabao Cup tie to a degree.
