- Cambridge are on a two-game winning streak after a 0-0 draw at Norwich, a 2-1 win over Barnet in the cup and a 3-2 win against Wigan in League One.
- Millwall are on a three-game winning run following a penalty shootout win at QPR and a 2-0 Championship win at Bristol City.
Tight and cagey affair expected at Abbey Stadium
Cambridge United are on a run of five wins, four draws and just one defeat in their last ten in all competitions, so they'll be feeling confident of giving a good account of themselves against Championship outfit Millwall in this EFL Cup tie.
Neil Harris' side are an organised, disciplined and direct bunch of players, they have a proper focal point up top in the form of Louis Appéré and with Isaac Heath running riot behind him, they're a useful little unit to play with.
The U's have won four and lost just one of their last five home games in all competitions, scoring an average of 2.60 goals per game and conceding just 1.00 per match in that time, so they should be able to at least give Millwall a good game on Tuesday evening.
Millwall are a threat on their day
Millwall will certainly think that they can win this game, especially given that they come into it following a three-game winning spell of their own. However, Alex Neil's men have had a mixed run of results in their last 10 in all competitions (W4, D2, L4) and there is always the potential for an upset here.
Priced at 27/25, the visitors do justify favouritism but the U's price of 12/5 alongside the 12/5 draw about makes this a toss-up in the outright markets. Under 2.5 match goals at 83/100 and Both Teams To Score - No at 1/1 looks a much more appropriate selection for this one.
The U’s can make it interesting
Neil Harris' approach, which gives Cambridge a very compact look and relies on transition play, should keep this game cagey and tight, while Millwall are a higher pressing team and like to play vertically from wide areas, so this could develop into a real arm wrestle.
Alex Neil's men will certainly have an edge on the ball for much of the game, but they've a record of (W3, D2, L3), so the hosts can definitely get involved in this one and make it a tight encounter.
