Stalemate anticipated for an important European playoff clash
Arda Kardzhali are listed as slight favorites at 2.12 for Sunday’s Parva Liga clash with PFC Cherno More Varna, who are listed as 3.96 outsiders for this fixture with the draw at 2.86.
However, both prices are probably too big and the tie looks the most likely result with both teams looking to get their hands on the three points in a matchup that will be crucial to their position in the Conference League/qualifying group as the season reaches its climax.
Cherno More have spent much of the season above Arda in the table and sit about three points better off as we write this in late April 2026. Veteran coach Ilian Iliev has moulded the Varna side into a tactically flexible unit that can play a deep 4-2-3-1 system or a 3-5-2 with wing-backs that give them plenty of control of the midfield and width in the attacking third.
Iliev’s ability to adapt the team to whichever system suits the situation has ensured they’ve stayed in the European shake-up for much of the campaign but their results have been a little patchy of late with just one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five in all competitions.
Cherno More were much improved in their 1-0 away win over Lokomotiv Plovdiv last weekend, showing grit on the road.
Arda are a much more pragmatic side under coach Aleksandar Tunchev, who has inspired his squad to several impressive results in this fixture this term.

Tunchev’s men can be as tight as a drum when they play deep and will look to frustrate Varna and strike on the counter.

- Birsent Karagaren has provided a solid focal point for the hosts’ 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1, with the striker scoring around seven league goals to date and always a threat on the break.
- Antonio Vutov has been a quality playmaker in the centre, supplying chances and chipping in with goals and assists, while Andre Shinyashiki has been their most prolific assist provider, linking the play in the final third.
- We’re not expecting a high-scoring game here and Cherno More have enough creativity from the likes of Georgi Lazarov, who’s their top scorer in the league with around eight goals to his name, to score and cause problems from set-pieces as well as open play.
- Nikolay Zlatev and Celso Sidney are other options off the bench for them that can make the difference in these tight matchups and the 1.44 on under 2.5 goals is too short given the defensive nature of both of these teams.

That said, we will take the tie at very appealing odds of 2.86 as our main selection here as the Cherno More players may not be up to maintaining the tempo and pressure on Arena Arda, where Tunchev’s team have an impressive record this season in all competitions.
A 1-0 home victory for Arda is more likely than a 0-0 stalemate, but goals are likely to be at a premium in the matchup between a patient, possession-based side and a very compact, counter-attacking team on a day when the temperature is likely to be cool and there may be some damp in the air.
