These two sides are two very different sides, but both are in mixed form ahead of Thursday's first leg of this Conference League qualification tie. Toni Korkeakunnas' Panevezys are a patient side that rarely take risks, they will press but they're very well organised and they have an array of different pressing shapes.
They're a side that like to sit in and are generally pretty safe in possession, while they have a good bite on the break. Korkeakunnas has done a decent job since stepping into the hotseat on 9th April 2026 and while he knows his side will have to be at their very best to avoid defeat here, he won't be overly stressed.
His side have shown a real ability to keep the score down in matches they should lose, while they also have the quality to win games they shouldn't, even if it's been a patchy 2-2-6 record in their last 10 in all competitions.
Tobol and tactics
Tobol Kostanay are the favorites, and on paper they have a little more quality on the field, but they're also coming off a shaky start to the new campaign. Miroslav Romashchenko has been in charge since 22nd April and he prefers to play a higher tempo 4-2-3-1, as his men like to control the ball and make their moves quickly out wide.
The fact these two teams have two completely different styles means that we can anticipate a real midfield battle on Thursday, with Tobol looking to pin Panevezys wide and Panevezys doing their best to remain compact and nick the game in transition. This fixture will be tight and tense, as it should be for a first-leg Conference League qualification contest, and while Tobol are the choice at 1.95, the 3.5 about FK Panevezys also catches the eye, as the draw at the same price.

Both sides will know that a good performance can swing this one but our preferred option is the tie or under 3.5 goals bet.
Kwadwo Asamoah is their dangerman with three of those strikes, but Tobol should have enough to squeeze a result here, so we're going for a one or two-goal away win.
- Panevezys have kept things tight at home this term, while Tobol haven't been great on their travels and have conceded 13 goals in six games.
- They may have the edge in terms of talent, but the visitors will have to work hard to put some distance between themselves and the Lithuanian side, and we don't see them getting enough to make a comfortable second-leg return unnecessary.
