Sochi are on the up
Standings and form
PFK Sochi sit 16th in the Premier League 2025-2026 table having amassed 21 points from 29 matches, while FC Akhmat Grozny are ninth having picked up 36 points from the same number of matches.
Tactics and scorers
Sochi boss Igor Osinkin, in charge since September 2025, has played to his players’ strengths with a five at the back system and advanced wing-backs, which enables them to flood wide areas and attack vertically when in possession.
This has resulted in a slight resurgence in form with three wins and two defeats from their last five matches, and two consecutive wins at home.
Anton Zinkovskiy tops the Sochi goals charts with three from 27 league matches, but Kirill Kravtsov has been in excellent form of late, bagging three of Sochi’s last seven goals.
Akhmat are hard to beat
Tactics
Stanislav Cherchesov has instilled a pragmatic style at Akhmat since taking the reins in August 2025, with his side setting up to be compact and get men behind the ball, only looking to attack on the counter and set pieces.
Cherchesov’s tactics have worked well, but they remain inconsistent with one win, two draws and two defeats from their last five league games.
Key player
Egas Cacintura is Akhmat’s main attacking threat with nine goals in 27 league games, but it’s difficult to tell when he will play as Cherchesov’s men can be a different team from one week to the next.
An even contest
Sochi’s average goals per home match is 1.00, the same as Akhmat’s average when on the road, while the visitors concede 1.71 goals per away match in the league.
With the wing-backs of Sochi and the compact nature of Akhmat, it’s anybody’s guess as to how this game will play out, but it should be interesting.
Match outlook
- While Sochi are on a mini resurgence, they have failed to win either of their last two at home to Akhmat.
- The visitors have lost back-to-back away matches and are inconsistent on the road.
- The draw will be our main selection in this fixture, but we’re expecting both sides to score and a high-scoring draw.
- Draw at 3.74, both teams to score - yes at 1.69, over 2.5 goals at 1.97.
