Primera Nacional 2026: A tale of two clubs
Season positions
Quilmes Atletico Club have been awful so far this season in Primera Nacional 2026 and are currently 26th with 24 points from 21 games. Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy have been superb and are 2nd with 41 points from 22 matches. There is a world of difference between these two sides and these two games are rarely this close in the early betting.
However, a few things suggest this game will be a lot closer than it should be.
Home form and coaching
Quilmes are at home and they've been a good base in Buenos Aires so far this term, winning five, drawing three and losing only two of their 10 home games. They've only conceded 0.40 goals per game on average at home. Moreover, Leandro Gracián has been head coach since 4 March 2026 and has implemented his vertical, pressing style to decent effect in those 10 home games. Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy will have to work to get the ball and create space in this one.
Gimnasia's approach and away record
Hernan Pellerano has been in charge of Gimnasia since 18 November 2025 and has created a side that is controlled, positionally sound and likes to control the rhythm. They've been slightly less solid away from home though, winning three, drawing three and losing five of their 11 Primera Nacional 2026 road trips. Jujuy have conceded 18 goals on the road.
Sides are evenly matched in last two meetings
Quilmes come into this game on the back of a two-game losing streak after a 1-0 away defeat to CA Ferrocarril Midland followed by a 1-0 loss to Colegiales at home. Gimnasia have split their last two, beating Atletico Guemes 2-1 at home before a 2-1 loss to Colegiales.
The recent head-to-head is level at 1 win apiece in the last two but the latest fixture was in Primera Nacional 2026 and saw Gimnasia take the three points at home. Quilmes have kept Gimnasia winless in their last two away visits to Quilmes.
Gimnasia’s goal power looks a little better
So, with Quilmes having lost their last two, the narrow bet selection here has to be Gimnasia. However, the styles do suit each other perfectly with Quilmes pressing and breaking while Gimnasia prefer to dominate possession.
It's a bit of a tight spot and it's probably best to take the value of the under at 1.52 and BTTS No at 1.63, but it does look like a narrow home win, despite the superior standing of the visitors.
- Agustin Lavezzi leads the way for Quilmes with five Primera Nacional 2026 goals from 21 appearances and looks to be their most consistent and best finisher at present.
- Gimnasia have a little more firepower with Octavio Bianchi netting three of their seven goals across the last five.
- Bianchi has come alive for Jujuy recently and they have a proven finisher in Cristian Menendez up front with six Primera Nacional 2026 goals in 17 appearances.
