Top teams tangle at Swansea.com Stadium
It's anyone's guess how the Championship 2026/2027 will pan out, but right now Swansea City top the tree with 20 points from nine games after a very fast start. The Swans have won their last three with a 3-1 home win over Burnley followed by away victories over Lincoln City (2-1) and Norwich City (2-1). Vítor Matos has them set up in a 4-3-3 system that is patient in possession, but with a higher press than many of their peers and the ability to put players through the middle of the field quickly.
West Ham, who have 16 points from their nine matches, are right on Swansea's heels in third place. Nuno Espírito Santo's men are set up in a versatile 4-2-3-1 that can be packed in or stretched to play off the back of other teams.
Hammers have the bite to nick it on the break
Odds and form:
The Hammers, who are 1.96 favorites for the match, are coming off back-to-back draws and won't have been helped by the 1-1 draw with QPR coming immediately after a 2-2 away stalemate at Millwall. But we will swerve the moneyline wagers and recommend backing the Hammers to avoid defeat while also taking the draw at 3.65 in case they are held again.
Tactical matchup:
This has all the makings of a classic matchup between a team that controls the pattern of play against a team that is equally adept at disrupting the flow and counter-attacking. Swansea are unbeaten at home with three wins and two draws from five games in the Championship 2026/2027 and have only conceded twice, so the Liberty has been tough to break down.
Back both teams to score in Wales
But West Ham have enough bite to land a few blows on the counter and have scored eight goals in their four away games this season. Backing both teams to score is a good play as a result, and also a good bet.
Scorers to watch:
- Adam Idah is the leading scorer in the Championship 2026/2027 with three goals in eight games while Zan Vipotnik has scored two of the six Swansea goals in the last five.
- Jarrod Bowen is the danger man for the Hammers as he also has four to his name in eight appearances.
