- Wrexham form: Wrexham have lost one of their last five matches, drawing three and winning one.
- Preston form: Preston North End have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five.
Home advantage can see Red Dragons through
Preston North End are currently in poor form and they will not have an easy time of it when they travel to Wales for a Championship game with Wrexham on Saturday. The Lilywhites, who make the trip on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Millwall, have won only one of their last five games (W1, D1, L3) and have yet to record an away win after four games in the second tier.
It's hard to see Preston changing that bad away record here and it's even harder to side with them on the double chance bet at the current odds. Graham Alexander has done a good job since taking over in September 2026, but there are few signs that his North End are ready to take on any of the favourites on their own patch.
Wrexham, who have been in decent form but could do with some consistency, are a long way from being one of those, but they are the team with the best chance of winning at SToK Cae Ras.
Parkinson’s press has produced results
Phil Parkinson has been in charge of Wrexham since July 2021 and his high-energy, wing-back-driven setup keeps the Red Dragons direct and dangerous in transition. His 3-4-2-1 formation, with the wing-backs pushing on in numbers, is always going to get the ball into the striker early and it doesn't take much for the hosts to be in transition and dangerous.
Preston play in a more fluid and interchangeable shape, but they are set up to keep it compact and pick moments to counter. Those contrasting tactical approaches should produce a midfield turnover-fest and plenty of battles between the wing-backs of the visitors and the wide players of the home side.
If Wrexham can get on top in that area, they could win with room to spare, but it is unlikely to be that easy.
Top men can make the difference
Odds and expectations
Wrexham, who will look to increase the tempo in the game, are the clear favorites at 1.76 with Preston North End out at 4.29 and the draw at 3.65. The oddsmakers have clearly taken into account the home-road split in the league games played by these two sides this season and seem to have put a bit of an emphasis on that.
There is no doubt that Wrexham have been much tougher to beat at home and it is hard to oppose them, but we have to be a little wary that Preston's structure and ability to sit in and counter could keep this game a lot closer than the bookies expect.
Betting angle
A Wrexham win with under 3.5 goals looks a smart angle to play if they do retain their favorable odds come kick-off. A single goal could be all the hosts need to win it as neither team are prolific in front of goal with only five and four scored respectively in their four home and away league games.
Moore and Lang the men in form
Wrexham have scored more goals than Preston but the Lilywhites have scored the majority of their goals in away games.
- Callum Lang is their current leading marksman with three in eight Championship games and he has been on form of late with three of those strikes coming in Preston's last five goals.
- Kieffer Moore is the big man up top for Wrexham with the same tally of three goals in eight games, but he has the aerial presence to be a real threat in the box and a goal from the forward could be enough to see the Red Dragons through.
