Stephen Warnock on Liverpool: Conor Bradley’s Potential and Jota’s Impact

Diogo Jota is Liverpool’s best striker, adds former Reds defender

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has told BetBrain that he believes Conor Bradley is talented enough to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool’s right back if he were to leave in the summer.

Warnock said: “Conor Bradley is more than capable of replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold as the starting right back for Liverpool if he were to leave. I have no question over his quality, the only question mark I have over him now is his injury record. He seems to pick up these niggly muscle injuries which can keep him out for periods of time.

This is the continuation of a previous set of statements that Warnock made when talking to us. At the start of the month, Warnock’s first interview with BetBrain had similar takeaways. The former Red believe in Bradley as a qualitative Premier League-level player but has questions about his fitness and durability.

However, Stephen Warnock is still optimistic about the young fullback. His ascension would be a no deposit bonus for Liverpool in case Trent decides to leave for Real Madrid.

“It could be down to the fact he is a bit part player now, and potentially a good, consistent run of starting games could allow for his body to become stronger and more robust to overcome these injuries. We won’t know the answer until that situation arises, but he can start for Liverpool’s first team, that’s for sure.”

This possible departure of Trent is still up in the air, even unlikely, according to another former Red. Danny Murphy’s most recent intervention for BetBrain was a statement about how Trent is very unlikely to leave in January, keeping the Bradley question dormant for now. It remains to be seen if his opinion shifts as his contributions to BetBrain’s blog continue.

Jota is Liverpool’s best striker

Warnock was full of praise for Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, stating the Portuguese international is among their most important players.

“Diogo Jota is one of Liverpool’s most important players,” he said. “We saw it in the recent game against Nottingham Forest when he came on, the impact that he had right away. He puts fear into defenders, he just drifts, and you can’t pick him up.

Naturally, the Portuguese striker is a consistent boon for the Liverpool squad, especially in light of Darwin Núñez’s inconsistency. Quality forwards aren’t cheap, nor are they so easy to grab. There are so many free spins on the market for a club like Liverpool until the lack of transfer business shows. Thankfully, Jota’s impact is still really easy to feel, as Warnock summarised.

“He’s naturally instinctive and so difficult to defend against. I believe that he’s Liverpool’s number one striker and we see the best of Liverpool when he plays.”
