- Head-to-head: Toluca have won four of the last five Liga MX 2026/2027 matches between the clubs, with San Luis winning none (1 draw).
- League positions: Toluca are currently 2nd in the Liga MX 2026/2027 table with 20 points from 11 games, whilst San Luis are 15th with 12.
- Form: Toluca have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches in all competitions.
Red Devils can do enough to see off San Luis
Antonio Mohamed's Toluca are likely to have the wherewithal to overcome San Luis in Sunday's Liga MX 2026/2027 clash at Estadio Nemesio Diez. The Diablos Rojos have enjoyed an excellent first half of the season to occupy 2nd place in the league table and should have the structure and home advantage to see off the Tuneros.
The odds of 1.37 for the favourites are probably about right with the visitors available at 6.6 and the draw 5.3, so the question here is whether we can find a way to profit from this mismatch. The obvious answer is to take the over on goals at 1.38, which suits both the set-up of the game and the teams themselves.
San Luis are in a similar sort of form to Toluca with two wins and three defeats in their last five, although their most recent result was a home loss to Santos Laguna. Diego Mejia's side have shown plenty of bite lately, however, beating Necaxa 3-1 in the home game prior to their setback last time out and taking a 3-2 scalp at Club Universidad Nacional prior to that.
San Luis have a puncher’s chance in transition
Scoring chances
They arrive in Toluca, so they'll surely fancy their chances of scoring at least once against Toluca, who have shipped eight goals in five games at home.
Key players
- David Rodriguez leads the Tuneros scoring with three, but Sebastien Lamonge has bagged two of his in the last five and looks dangerous to operate between the lines here.
- Alexis Vega is Toluca's main spark with four goals in eight Liga MX 2026/2027 appearances and is the man to watch in the final third.
Tactics
Mohamed's 4-2-3-1 is compact and set up to be extremely quick in transition, so it won't be keen for an open game, but San Luis will press and want to win the ball high up the pitch and set the tempo.
Head-to-head and prediction
In the head-to-head, Toluca have had the measure of the visitors for a while now, winning four of the last five meetings with San Luis failing to win on any of those occasions. So whilst Toluca are surely the more likely team to take the points on Sunday, we're going to keep San Luis involved by taking both teams to score at 1.57.
