A close contest at Estadio Akron
Match outlook
This Saturday's early Liga MX game between Chivas and Tigres is likely to be a close matchup with the home side holding the advantage, although the form of the visitors means the game is too close to call.
Chivas form
Chivas come into this clash with mixed form over their last five games across all competitions, registering two wins, two draws and a defeat. Their latest results were a 2-0 home defeat to Querétaro and a 1-1 away draw at Atlas, so the Rebaño Sagrado have not exactly been cruising along in Mexico's top division.
Tigres form
Felinos, on the other hand, are in much better shape with two wins, two draws and one defeat across their past five in all competitions. They have beaten Puebla 1-0 and Toluca 3-2 at home to secure back-to-back victories and that will give a bit of momentum to Guido Pizarro's side, who are desperate for a win on the road.
Chivas have the home advantage
With three wins and two losses at home in Liga MX 2026/2027, Estadio Akron has been a real points bank for Chivas and their home advantage in this clash may just swing it in their favour. They won 2-0 when they played host to Tigres here five months ago in the 2025/2026 season and are unbeaten in the last three Tigres away visits to this ground, so the bookmakers are about right to make them slight favorites here at 1.84, although the draw at 3.75 is tempting for small stakes.
Tigres are toothless on the road
The Felinos travel to Guadalajara with an average of 0.67 goals per away game in Liga MX 2026/2027, having scored just four on the road, so their bite has been blunt outside of Monterrey. The visitors will look to control the ball and hit the opposition quickly on the break, while Gabriel Milito will set Chivas up in a 3-4-2-1 formation that will allow them to press high and attack vertically, with the wing-backs trying to stretch the game.
The Rebaño Sagrado are much better than the odds makers give them credit for here and it is hard to ignore the fact that Tigres are winless on their travels in Mexico's premier division, so we'll take the hosts to edge this one.
- Ricardo Marín has been Chivas' biggest threat this season with four goals from ten appearances in Liga MX 2026/2027, while Santiago Sandoval has chipped in with a couple of goals in the Rebaño Sagrado's last five.
- Juan Brunetta has been Tigres' talisman with the same number of league goals as well as four assists and he has scored three of their last five.
Goals could be scarce
Chivas have only conceded six goals at home in the Liga MX 2026/2027 season and have been tidy in the back when they need to be. Both teams to score is priced to land, but Over 2.5 goals at 1.7 seems the cleaner choice if this one opens up.
