- League position: Derby are in the bottom half after eight Championship 2026/2027 games
- Recent form: The Rams have lost their last two home games (1-0 vs West Bromwich Albion & 2-1 vs Birmingham City) and had to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Burnley last time out.
- Opposition form: The Red Dragons beat Southampton 2-1 at home last time out, recovering well from a 1-1 draw with Burnley and a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of West Ham United a fortnight previous.
Derby in dire straits
The Rams have endured a disappointing start to the Championship 2026/2027 campaign and are already in the drop zone with just five points from eight games. John Eustace's team are 22nd in the table and already look to be under pressure as they prepare for the visit of Wrexham to Pride Park this Saturday.
Wrexham have played well enough to be 14th with ten points on the board, but it's not a big enough buffer to be complacent just yet.
Eustace has set his team up to be a compact, pragmatic side that should be tough to break down, but one that has the quality to hurt opponents in transition. Bobby Clark is the most prolific Rams player in the Championship 2026/2027 with two goals in eight games and he will be the sharpest edge to Derby's attack.
Red Dragons can nick it
Home form:
Derby's home record in the Championship 2026/2027 has been poor with one draw and three defeats in their four games at Pride Park (L3, D1). They have scored an average of 0.75 goals per game at home while conceding at an average of 2.00.
Away form & tactics:
Wrexham have been slightly more solid on the road with one win, two draws and one defeat from four away games in the Championship 2026/2027. Phil Parkinson's side have scored at an average of 1.00 per game away from home.
This game will be interesting in terms of a stylistic clash with Derby looking to keep it tight and Wrexham trying to nick it at some point. The visitors won the last away head-to-head 2-1 and Derby didn't win the last home game, so that makes me favor the Red Dragons slightly, but the odds really do suggest this is going to be a tight game.
I will go with Under 2.5 goals at 1.8 and Both Teams to Score – Yes at 1.75 as there will be chances at both ends of the field, but it is likely to be a cagey match-up.
- Parkinson has set up his team to be a direct side that will play on the counter, throw in crosses from wide and be a threat from set pieces.
- His players don't generally look to play long spells of possession and his most prolific player so far, Kieffer Moore, is a big, physical player who is a great out-ball for them.
