- Team form: Ilves Tampere's form is mixed at best – no wins, two draws and three losses in the last five.
- Opponent form: FC Differdange 03 come into this game with a better run of form – three wins, one draw and one loss in their last five.
- Away form: FC Differdange 03 are good on the road – three wins and a defeat in four away games this season.
Ilves should still have the edge
Ilves Tampere enter Thursday's game as favorites at 1.55 against FC Differdange 03's 6.55 and draw odds of 4.0, but there is a case to be made that this one could go either way. The first leg of their UEFA Conference League Qualification 2026 tie finished 0-0 so this has a knife-edge feel about it.
Ilves have been patchy in their recent results, but the game's complexion has been tilted in favour of the home side because of Differdange's solid run of results. Speranza's side have won four and drawn one of their five home games this term, conceding just four goals in that sequence. The last three results have been a 2-1 Finnish Cup defeat to HJK Helsinki, a 2-1 Finnish League defeat to FF Jaro and the 0-0 draw away to Differdange which led us here.
Across all competitions, Ilves have four wins, two draws and four losses in their last ten, so it is not a great run of games overall for Tampere, who still need to be supported on home turf.
FC Differdange have some momentum
Form:
FC Differdange 03 have a bit more momentum to carry them through the second leg as they have been in better overall form.
- Pedro Resende's side have won six, drawn two and lost two of their ten games across all competitions this term, the latest three of which were a 4-1 Coupe de Luxembourg win over FC Victoria Rosport, 0-0 draw with Ilves and a 1-0 away defeat to Atert Bissen.
Key players:
Andreas Buch has been the danger man for Differdange, scoring three of the club's nine goals in the past five games, but Jardell Kanga has been Ilves' spark, providing three of their seven goals in the same number of games.
Speranza’s men should have the cutting edge
This game will be a good one to watch because the clash of styles between the clubs should lead to an open game – Speranza prefers an attacking 4-3-3, which could test Differdange's overloads on the wide areas. Resende's back three and wing-backs are designed to press high and spring fast transitions, which could also leave this one in a mess.
A home win for Ilves looks about right given they are the better team, but their form has been patchy and Differdange are very well organised at the moment, so another cagey draw would not be a surprise. A narrow Ilves win or another cagey draw is the most likely outcome, while under 2.5 goals should also cover a scenario similar to the first-leg.
