- Luton form: Luton are 16th in League One 2026/2027 with 11 points from nine matches, just a step ahead of the drop scrap.
- Leicester form: Leicester City are 14th with 12 points from their first nine and the table is still tight around mid-pack.
Luton can edge the visitors in a tough game
Home form and tactics
Luton Town have a slightly better home record than away record in the League One 2026/2027 campaign, winning one, drawing two and losing one of their four games at Kenilworth Road. Jack Wilshere's side have scored 1.25 goals per game at home and conceded 1.00, so this will be a very competitive game.
The Hatters arrive here off the back of a 4-1 victory away at Wycombe Wanderers, but that was followed by a 2-1 defeat away at Milton Keynes Dons FC. Wilshere has been the boss since 13 October 2025 and his back three set-up is designed to suit very athletic wing-backs and fast vertical breaks when the press is broken.
Leicester away form and style
The Foxes come into this game off the back of a 2-1 home win over Doncaster Rovers – a positive response to a 3-1 defeat at home to Peterborough United in their previous game. Leicester are unbeaten away from home in the League One 2026/2027 with one win and three draws from four trips, conceding just five goals on their travels.
Leicester are yet to click as a team under Russell Martin, who has been in charge since 1 July 2026, but his possession-first philosophy is starting to take shape and the Foxes are starting to be more patient and structured.
The Hatters have a little bit more danger
The table suggests that this is a very even matchup but I have to side with the hosts here as Leicester have yet to blow anyone away on the road. The best way for both of these teams to play is different – The Hatters want to press high and get at teams in transition, while Leicester will be looking to keep the ball and play through the pressure.
Luton have been better at home than away in 2026/2027 and their last two home games (1 win, 1 defeat) suggests they can get something from this one. This will be tight, but we like Luton to get the edge in this one.
- Luton come into this one as slight favorites at 2.08 with Leicester at 3.05 and the draw at 3.75.
- Both teams to score will be live at 1.42 and Over 2.5 goals at 1.5 is also attractive in a game where both will have chances.
Wells can do some damage for Luton
Nahki Wells is Luton's spark and the fact that he is in the side is a good thing for them. The former Huddersfield Town striker has four goals in seven League One 2026/2027 appearances and is the most reliable box finisher that The Hatters have at the moment.
Emil Riis Jakobsen has scored two goals in three League One 2026/2027 matches and is Leicester's most dangerous player.
Luton's width from their wing-backs and vertical counter attacks will certainly test Leicester's high line, but if the visitors can keep the game flowing they can hurt Luton too. Admir Bristric has three goals in Leicester's last five games and the forward looks to be getting into the right positions at the right time to make a difference.
