- Recent form: Cambridge have four wins and one draw from their last five games, and have won their last three games.
- Plymouth form: Plymouth Argyle have three wins and two defeats from their last five matches, and are travelling well in League One 2026-2027.
- Standings: Both teams are in the top seven, Cambridge are fifth with 19 points from ten games and Plymouth are fourth with 19 points from eleven.
Counter-attackers Cambridge can sting the Pilgrims
Plymouth Argyle are only slightly favored at 2.43 to beat Cambridge United in Saturday's League One 2026-2027 clash at Abbey Stadium, although Cambridge United look good value at 2.55 considering the visitors have the same points but from more matches. There's not a great deal to separate these two sides in the table with both on 19 points after ten and eleven games respectively, so this is a top end clash that could easily go either way.
Neil Harris has really got Cambridge United playing his kind of game since he took over on 19 February 2025 and they are looking very well drilled and tough to beat right now.
Railwaymen can keep it close and frustrate the Pilgrims
Cambridge form
They did that to good effect in their 1-0 home win over Blackpool and 2-1 win at Barnsley in their two most recent outings in League One 2026-2027.
- Ben Knight is their main spark in the central areas and has three goals in eight league appearances.
- The team have scored eight goals at 1.60 a game at home in the league this term.
Plymouth approach
The visitors have a different way of playing as Tom Cleverley has instilled a preference for keeping the ball and pressing to pin teams back since he came into the club on 13 June 2025. Aribim Pepple is their most reliable goal scorer with three goals in the same number of League One 2026-2027 games, but he has also bagged two in their last five, giving Plymouth a lively edge in the attacking third.
Both teams to score offers a sensible alternative
This looks like a really close game in which Plymouth's possession-based tactics will be tested by Cambridge's counter-attacking style, but the fact that Cambridge United are not favourites and have one game in hand suggests a home win isn't that likely. However, the odds seem a bit skewed in Plymouth's direction and that is why I am siding with the home side, but a both teams to score wager also makes good sense given the strength of the home attack and the fact that Plymouth have conceded seven goals in five away games in the current League One campaign.
