- Wimbledon form: AFC Wimbledon are winless in their last five matches (D2, L3).
- Wycombe form: Wycombe Wanderers have won three of their last five games (W3, D1, L1).
Don’t expect goals or drama in this mid-table battle
Tactical setup
AFC Wimbledon are set to come up against a different tactical proposition to that which they met in League One 2025/2026 when Wycombe Wanderers visit the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday. Johnnie Jackson has kept things tight since taking charge on 16 May 2022 with a 3-at-the-back formation that is set up for compact defending and fast transitions.
Style and threat
There is plenty to admire about the Dons' approach and, while they are not the most positive side in the division, they are solid and well organised. The wide areas are covered by wing-backs and the team will sit deep and look to defend central areas, creating a counterattacking threat.
Jayden Stockley, with three goals in eight League One 2026/2027 appearances, is their main threat and has scored two of their goals in the last five.
Wycombe Wanderers are just about good enough
AFC Wimbledon are 15th in the table with 12 points from ten games while The Chairboys are 11th with 13 points, so this mid-table matchup promises to be a close battle.
The odds are too tight for any of the three choices in the match result market and both teams to score – yes at 1.78 looks like a live angle, but under 2.5 goals at 1.9 also fits this cagey game.
The Dons have been well organised since Johnnie Jackson's appointment, but Wycombe are in better form and have the slight odds on edge with them, so we'll go for a very narrow away victory.
- Wimbledon are the home side, but arrive in poor form after no wins in their last five, including a 5-0 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday earlier today and a 2-1 defeat at Plymouth Argyle.
- The Dons are unbeaten in four home League One 2026/2027 matches (W2, D2) while Wycombe are also solid on the road (W2, D1, L1).
- But the visitors are the bookmakers' slight favorites at 2.1, compared to Wimbledon at 3.14 and the draw at 3.4.
- Wycombe won the corresponding League One 2025/2026 match 2-0 at home, but have failed to win either of their two visits to Wimbledon in their last two away games.
