- Team form: San Jose's home record in MLS 2026 is (W6, D4, L5).
- Away struggles: Colorado have failed to win 13 of their 15 away games in MLS 2026 (W2, D3, L10).
- Top scorer: Preston Judd has scored 15 MLS 2026 goals for the Quakes in 25 appearances this season.
Quakes and Rapids share the points in draw-heavy seasons
Standings and form
San Jose Earthquakes come into this Thursday's MLS 2026 clash with Colorado Rapids in 8th place on 48 points from 31 games, while the Rapids are 17th with 39 points from 30 and are winless in five (D4, L1).
Recent results
The hosts drew 1-1 and lost 3-0 in their last two games respectively. They drew Nashville SC 1-1 in their last home game, while Colorado arrived at PayPal Park after a 0-0 draw with Portland and a 2-2 draw with Minnesota United.
San Jose have been better at home than away in MLS 2026, so Colorado should make life hard for the home team.
A home win looks likely
Bruce Arena has his side very well organised in a compact 4-2-3-1 which is built to spring the ball wide with their wide full-backs and hit teams on the counter-attack. This should be an end-to-end game against the Rapids, but I think San Jose's home advantage and better overall quality could see them edge this one.
Matt Wells has made the visitors a more progressive team in terms of how they approach games, taking the ball to the opponents, utilising the width and pressing teams high up the field, but I don't see them matching the Quakes here.
San Jose have the best finisher
Scoring threats
- Preston Judd has been San Jose's biggest threat in MLS 2026 with 15 goals from 25 games, while he has scored three of their last six, so he looks a solid bet to get on the scoreboard on Thursday.
- Paxten Aaronson is the Rapids' most reliable finisher with just seven goals from 27 appearances.
- Colorado have conceded 26 goals away from home in MLS 2026, an average of 1.73 per game, so they should be vulnerable in this clash.
- Donavan Phillip has given the Rapids a little bit more spark in the final third, with the youngster netting two of their last five goals.
Betting outlook
I think both teams to score: Yes is a solid option at 1.48, while over 2.5 goals at 1.55 looks about right, too.
I'm going for a home win with goals at both ends in a 2-1 or 3-1 type of finish, and 2.12 looks like good value for the hosts.
