- Team form: Toronto FC are 21st in MLS 2026 with 36 points from 31 games.
- Opposition form: D.C. United are 26th in MLS 2026 with 33 points from 30 matches.
Side with the Reds
Toronto FC are priced up at 1.97 to win the game against D.C. United and that's probably about right given the form of both sides over the past few weeks. D.C. United are on a 2-match losing streak after a 2-1 win over Red Bull New York at home, followed by a 4-1 loss at Orlando City and a 2-1 defeat at FC Cincinnati.
This has always been a competitive matchup with one win apiece for both sides over the last 18 months and Toronto will have a slight advantage for the home matchup. The Reds come into this one after a 2-0 win at Red Bull New York and a 4-2 loss at Columbus Crew, so there is enough firepower here to hurt the visitors.
D.C. United have been in terrible form over the same period and have lost three straight on the road, which is always a bad omen when coming to Toronto. Rene Weiler's men have been well organised since he took over on 16 July 2025, but they are struggling for momentum after a run of one win in five in which they've lost four times.
Toronto’s momentum is better
Recent form and home record
Robin Fraser's Reds have had a mixed run of two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five, but they can be a cutthroat side when they get going and are more likely to do that at home. Toronto have won five, drawn nine and lost only two of their 16 MLS 2026 home matches, so they're a tough team to see off at BMO Field – even if they aren't always ruthless winners.
Toronto FC have conceded 32 goals in 16 home MLS 2026 matches (average 2.00) and that should provide enough space for the visitors to get a goal in Canada.
Key players
But Toronto have enough at both ends to win the match on Wednesday and we're siding with the home side to edge it.
- Daniel Salloi, the team's main finisher with seven goals in 27 appearances in MLS 2026, could be the difference with an anytime goal for the hosts.
- Tai Baribo is the key man in United's attack with 14 MLS 2026 goals in 20 and two in his last five appearances, so the D.C. striker is the obvious anytime goal scorer pick here.
An end-to-end game in Canada
The D.C. United are a well-drilled 4-4-2/4-3-3 outfit that are tough to break down, but Fraser's team are more of a possession-based side that can control the pace and structure of the game to their own ends.
Lewis Morgan has two of Toronto's six goals in their last five so he's a good anytime scorer pick between the lines for the host. United's away record of two wins, seven draws and six defeats in MLS 2026 is not great and we think that's enough to see this one go the way of the Toronto side.
D.C. have shipped 27 goals in 15 away matches in MLS 2026 (average 1.80) and Toronto should have enough to break them down and take the points.
Toronto to edge a game with goals at both ends looks the sharpest bet here, so we'll take Fraser's men to do the business with both teams on the board.
