- Head-to-head: In 5 home H2Hs in all competitions, Los Che have averaged 2.0 goals, while Betis have averaged 1.7 on the road.
- Form: Valencia CF have won four of their last ten matches in all competitions (D2, L4).
- Recent H2Hs: Real Betis are unbeaten in their last two H2Hs with Valencia CF (W1, D1).
Tight and tactical Mestalla affair expected
Recent results
Los Che have been dealt two successive defeats coming into Tuesday's clash with Real Betis after a 1-1 draw at Stoke last weekend was followed up by a 1-2 home loss to Newcastle and a 0-1 defeat to CD Teruel at home on Sunday.
Coaching and tactics
Carlos Corberan has been Valencia CF's head coach since 25 December 2024 and he has been getting his team to play positively, pressing, looking for turnovers and running hard to break with the ball.
In contrast, Manuel Pellegrini has been at the helm of Verdiblancos (1 August 2020 to date) and he continues to stick with the club's established style of calm, patient football, maintaining possession and structure.
Pellegrini's 4-2-3-1 shape and calm build-up should test Corberan's high-risk press, but Los Che's vertical transitions can certainly exploit any loose ball in midfield as Pablo Fornals has done for Betis with two of his five goals in their last five matches.
Expect a Betis victory to edge a close contest
We feel that Betis have a slightly sharper edge in their recent form with six of their last ten in all competitions won (D1, L3), although Valencia are no slouches with four of their ten in the same period lost (W4, D2).
- However, Valencia CF's form at home in all current competitions (W2, D1, L3) is poor and not at all like a fortress, while Betis' record of three wins and three defeats on the road is sufficient to suggest they're a threat but not invincible.
- The last meeting between these clubs was in LaLiga 2025/2026, with Betis edging it 2-1, and we think this should be another close game as the odds suggest that the two teams are almost even at 2.58, so a draw or Betis win is our choice.
- Under 2.5 goals at 1.83 is a cagey bet that could definitely land given the closeness of the matchup, but we'd rather take both teams to score at 1.73 as this will be a more entertaining fixture than the average fixture at this level.
