- Recent form: Bradford have won their last three games, beating Rochdale 2-0 here in the previous round of the EFL Cup and Peterborough United by the same scoreline in League One last time out.
- Away form: Burnley have won just one of their last ten across all competitions (D4, L5) and have failed to win any of their four away games (D0, L4), scoring just three times on their travels.
- Home form: Bradford have won three and lost one of their last four at home across all competitions (D0).
Bradford look to have the edge
Bradford City and Burnley could be very even in 2026-2027, but the home team look in a better place at the moment and the timing of this cup tie is probably right for the Bantams to nick it. Graham Alexander has the home side organised and full of energy, getting the best out of a three-at-the-back system that is designed for their wing-backs to push on and counter quickly.
And with Burnley looking a little blunt on the road at the moment, there is every chance that Bradford can get on top at The University of Bradford Stadium and make this a lively cup match.
Burnley have been blunt on the road
Recent form
The Clarets make the trip to West Yorkshire unbeaten in two after a 1-1 draw with Notts County in the EFL Cup was followed by a 2-2 draw with West Ham in the Championship, but they remain a work in progress.
Tactical setup
Nicky Hayen has them playing a more patient and structured game with a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 base and they pick their spots to press well, but in terms of recent results, they have been patchy with just one win, four draws and five defeats from their last 10.
Betting odds
Burnley are slight favorites at 2.18, but the odds are tight and Bradford are not too far behind at 3.15 which suggests this will be a proper cup match and not a rout.
Hosts have been good at home
But the under 2.5 goals line looks the sharper choice at 1.8 as this is likely to be a tight game. Burnley's superior quality and possession-first approach should allow them to dominate phases of the game, but Bradford are equally adept at clogging up the middle third and hitting quickly on the counterattack when their wing-backs get the ball in wide areas.
- Backing the draw at 3.4 looks tempting, particularly given Burnley's away form and the fact Bradford have been much better at home than away recently, winning three of their seven home games in all competitions (D2, L2).
- The hosts have been scoring plenty of goals recently, averaging 1.29 per game at home, and they should be able to make the most of their home turf on Wednesday.
- Burnley are averaging just 0.75 goals per away game across all competitions, so finishing on the road has been a real issue, and they may not get enough opportunities to finish this.
