Vancouver have 43 points to Austin's 25 and are expected to show their quality when the MLS 2026 strugglers come to Canada on Sunday. The odds suggest this game is a sure thing in terms of the hosts getting a result, but we feel it's worth putting a bit more than just the 1-26 favourite's price on this one for the same reason.
Style
Jesper Soerensen has made Vancouver what they are since he took over at the start of 2025 and his team have a clear identity – patient build-up play, high fullbacks and a coordinated pressing system from their 4-3-3 setup.

Vancouver can win with a few goals
Austin FC are much more of a front-heavy team and have morphed into something a little more conservative under Davy Arnaud since taking over in May 2026.
With Brian White with 13 goals in 20 MLS 2026 appearances and three in his last five games, the Caps have the leading scorer in the game. Verde & Black have Myrto Uzuni on six goals from 18 MLS 2026 appearances as their top marksman so they have a bit of bite up top, but this should be a match where Austin's best hope is to frustrate them as much as possible and hit on the break.
Austin's last three games have been a 1-1 home draw with Philadelphia Union, a 2-1 away win over Portland Timbers and a 1-1 home draw with San Jose Earthquakes, so they are clearly improving and are no longer being blown away by MLS's better sides.
With the home advantage and more quality on the field, Vancouver should control this contest and the over 2.5 goals at 1.38 looks the best option of the sides markets.
