These odds make little sense when you look at the form of both teams, but there is certainly an interesting subtext to this match with Cardiff having beaten Swindon 2-1 at home in the EFL Cup 2025/2026.
The Bluebirds have won their last two matches after hammering Forest Green Rovers 5-1 away before beating AS Roma 4-1 at home, and the Robins have lost their last four after a 5-1 away defeat to Crystal Palace and a 1-3 home loss to Bristol City last time out.
An exciting game in prospect
Brian Barry-Murphy has got Cardiff playing a structured 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, but the core of his side is based around a patient possession game where the full-backs are attacking players and his mid-to-high block can pin teams back.
They score plenty of goals and have notched 12 in their last five at home, so this could be a nightmare scenario for Ian Holloway's Swindon Town.
Holloway has set his team up pragmatically, but the 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system utilises his attacking full-backs and high-pressing midfielders to get the ball out wide and transition quickly.
This will cause some chaos at times, but Cardiff should control the rhythm of this match and have a superior quality, whereas Swindon will have to start fast to make it ugly.
