Dons can dent the odds in a good game
Odds and form
Norwich City are the favorites at 1.53 for Saturday's second-round EFL Cup 2026-2027 clash with Milton Keynes Dons FC, while the visitors are 5.75 and the draw 4.1.
- It's hard to make a case for the visitors to pull an upset in the outright odds, but Paul Warne's men certainly arrive in better condition than the home side ahead of the game at Carrow Road, England.
- While Norwich have won just one of their last five and drawn at AFC Wimbledon and a 1-2 home loss to Osasuna – MK Dons have won three of their last four – including a 3-0 home win over Tranmere Rovers and a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town.
- The overall form lines are a surprise as Norwich have four wins, three draws and three defeats in their last ten across all current competitions while MK Dons have an identical record.
- This is a big step up in class for the Dons, but Norwich aren't really doing anything to suggest they will crush the League One side with any ease.
Tactical setup
Philippe Clement, who was appointed as Norwich head coach on 18 November 2025, has set up a disciplined 4-2-3-1 system with some high full-backs and half-space overloads. They press aggressively from the off and have some good trigger points to get their pressing sequences going, but they need time to get going.
Canaries can control the game but not so easily
Paul Warne has done a good job in the time he has had in charge of MK Dons since 15 April 2025 and his side look a compact unit that are more direct, physical and have pace out wide.
They can get on the front foot in the transition and hit quickly, so there is certainly a sense that Norwich will have to take control of this game and that doesn't look easy for them at the moment.
The 1.65 on over 2.5 goals and 1.73 on Both Teams to Score – Yes are both very fair, but the most likely scenario remains a Norwich win and, despite the hosts being the best bet, it could be more interesting than the score markets suggest.
